I know, I know. You don’t even have to make me feel worse than I already do about keeping you out of the loop on what’s been going on this year at MBID. I apologize! But that’s not what this post is about. This post is about an amazing project that I completed earlier this year that you NEED to see. It’s truly a testament to how you can customize any space within your home to work for you! My client purchased this new construction home for herself after years of renting, which allowed her to finally create the home office of her dreams. This space is immediately inside the front door of her home, which may traditionally be intended for a sitting or dining room. On the other side of that wall was her living room area, which at the time of our consultation was filled with worn-out furniture and knick-knacks brought from her previous home. Here is what the spaces looked like when we got started.
I saved the best for last from this Designer VIP Day because truth be told, if I could purchase everything we sourced for this design for my own bedroom, I would! We created a contemporary royal retreat with a sensual emerald green velvet canopy bed as the centerpiece. Our client was overjoyed with how everything came out and you know what they say, “Happy wife, Happy life!”
The next room that we designed during this Design VIP Day was the living room! When it came to the living room, Candace wanted to make sure it was toddler friendly (of course) and had a relaxed, welcoming feel. She is an introvert who loves to be comfy at home and her husband loves to entertain so this living room will get lots of use! Just like we did with the dining room, we provided her with three different images of living rooms to help her identify which style she’d like to emulate in this hub of their home. Because I’ve worked with her before, I had an idea of what she would like but I always want to give clients the opportunity to freely express themselves. After all, our styles change and our preferences can vary based on the room.
One of the ways that we serve our clients at McNeill Brown Interior Design and give a lot of value in a short amount of time is our Designer VIP Day. With this service, we spend 6 hours with a client in one day doing a fast-paced session of space planning and selections. Because so many options for furniture and decor are available online, after we have done a consultation to identify what is needed, we can create mood boards that show the overall design with direct links to the products to buy! Typically we only complete 2 spaces during a Designer VIP Day but because Candace has been a client of mine for years and I know her style, we were able to knock out three spaces in just one day! They all came together beautifully and I’m going to share each one with you. Keep reading to see the designs and links to everything.
I recently had the opportunity to speak with Abby at Draper DNA to talk about where I am in my interior design career. It was really great to take a moment to reflect and give perspective on where I am now having been in the interior design industry for nearly 14 years. Read the interview here and you can watch me on video at the end of this post!
If you follow me on Instagram then you already know that our baby girl made her arrival on February 6th!
We knew that she would be sleeping in our room for the first six months of her life but still wanted to have a nursery prepared for her arrival. In the midst of me running my interior design projects for McNeill Brown Interior Design, I slowly converted a room we previously used as an office into her future abode! Read on to see the space and get links to everything we included…
See how I transformed this vintage desk from blah to beautiful for less that $100…
