Sunday Six

Sunday Six

I cannot believe it's the end of July already! This month was one of the most challenging I've had in years.

I knew it was going to be a busy month because I had THREE project installs scheduled along with all the other ongoing projects on my plate. I started off the month feeling a little under the weather and instead of taking the time to rest & get better, I pushed harder! If you're new to my blog you may not know that in 2014 I was diagnosed with (MS) Multiple Sclerosis. I've been blessed to not suffer from very many symptoms since then, but this month I experienced a scary relapse. After some pretty aggressive treatments & rest, I've slowly gotten back to work. Lesson learned: take care of Niki first! Everything else can wait.

Here's what I've been up to this month...

1. MOUNTAINSIDE ABODE

At the beginning of the month, I went to Asheville, NC to install a super cute two bedroom model apartment. I absolutely love Western North Carolina, and jump at any chance I have to visit. Unfortunately, I was not feeling my best so I pushed through to pull together this bright, eclectic makeover and headed right back home! I didn't get a chance to explore Asheville like I wanted to, but I'll be back soon. I love this little vignette of Rachel Stewart's painting paired with this World Market sconce. It's on sale right now!

2. COASTAL CLUBHOUSE

When I said this month was busy, I wasn't exaggerating. I literally have been from border to border of the state! Last week we installed an beautiful newly constructed clubhouse in a Wilmington, NC apartment community. This Surya rug was the star of the show! I am so glad that we didn't cover it up with a coffee table that would hide it's glory. I shared some behind the scenes of install day on my Instagram stories, but if you're not following me, you missed it! 3. SUBURBAN LIVING MODEl

The third install was another model apartment, but this one was local! Located in the booming Cary/Apex area, this apartment community attracts an eclectic mix of young professionals and families, so we wanted to create a model that would cater to that demographic. I pulled together an eclectic mix of textures on transitional style furniture pieces. Layers of color and texture blended together to make this apartment feel warm and luxurious. There are a few loose ends to tie up before we get this one professionally photographed, but I cannot wait to see those shots!

4. SIMPLY CREPES

I have driven by this restaurant dozens of times but never popped in until my friends Kiara and Leslie invited me for a girls night out! They have #MimosaMondays so we thought it would be a perfect time to stop in and try their unique menu. Everything was delicious and we had so much fun. We shared this appetizer sampler of crepe flatbread, roasted brussel sprouts and fried pickles. Yum! The service was awesome too. I'll definitely be back!

5. NCMA AFRICAN ART collection

The North Carolina Museum of Art is one of my favorite places in Raleigh. I need to make a point to visit more often! My high school art teacher, who was a such an encouragement for me to enter into a career in a creative field, now works for the museum. She invited me to the press preview for their newly curated African art collection and I was wowed by this incredible collection! It's so amazing to see how these historical pieces have been preserved perfectly. They have a great mix of ancient African art with contemporary. There is even a chalk mural that was drawn especially for this collection just weeks before opening this month. If you're in the Raleigh area, it's a must to check out.

6. THE SPECTRUM BY DALEY

This is my favorite album right now! I've been loving Daley for years and his latest release doesn't disappoint. It's giving me a little bit of Prince vibes (RIP!) and anyone who can get the QUEEN Jill Scott to sing on their album is alright with me. My favorite song on the album is Slow Burn Listen below, or click here.

I hope you have an amazing week! Look out for new posts coming this week.
