10 Years
This month made 10 years since I began blogging under the name SingleBubblePop. Where did the time go?
At the time I started this blog, I had just graduated from Carolina and moved back in with my parents. The economy was so terrible, and I, like most of my peers was left questioning what to do as our "plan A" was put to the wayside. I also realized that my medical school aspirations were no longer my hearts desire. Subsequently, I fell in love with design during my senior and decided to start down another path to what has been an incredible journey to becoming an interior designer. I began blogging as a way to catalog all of the new exciting ideas and information I was taking in, but my life was far from exciting. This was my first post ever:
My sister still inspires me today, but who would have thought that I would become an inspiration to others by just sharing my story? Over the years, y'all have watched me blossom from an uncertain young lady into the woman God has molded me to be. There were many bumps and bruises along the way, and I'm so thankful for the many who have been crutches when I couldn't stand on my own.
There have been incredible highs along this path too! If you've been reading for a while, you've had the opportunity to see me travel the world, appear on TV and magazines and finally graduate from Meredith too.
But can I be candid with y'all? I had this epic blog post planned with images from over the years and professional photos from the sweet gathering I had a couple weeks ago to celebrate with friends, but so many things got in the way to make that happen. Erased memory cards, old photos held hostage by photobucket, etc. etc.
This is actually the third draft of this post that I am writing because Squarespace somehow ate my last one. I was feeling defeated and like my chance to write about this milestone expressing my gratitude had passed, but a friend pointed out to me that sharing my authentic, current experience with you was even better than my first plan. Why? Because it illustrates a perfect example of the persistence that blogging for 10 years has required. There have been so many times when obstacles came into my life that could have prompted me to just let SingleBubblePop expire.
Even now, some may question why I am still blogging when the internet is now saturated with much bigger and better blogs. Simply put; I'm inspired to inspire. I cannot express how much joy it gives me when someone tells me that something they read or saw here on the blog changed their life in even the smallest way.
Thank you so much for your continued support and I cannot wait to see what 2018 brings!
Special thanks to the North Carolina Museum of Art for hosting my friends and I for a toast during Iris After Dark. If you're in the Raleigh area, please check out their super chic happy hour every Friday from 5:30-8:30 pm.
